Requirements for Non-U.S. Diplomatic and Official Visas

Diplomatic and Official Passport holders from the following countries no longer need a visa prior to arrival in the UAE.

(Algeria, Austria, Azerbaijan, Bahrain, Belgium, Bulgaria, Brunei, Chile, Colombia, Cyprus, Croatia, Czech Republic, Denmark, Egypt, Estonia, Finland, France, Greece, Germany, Hong Kong, Hungary, Iceland, Indonesia, Italy, Kuwait, Latvia, Liechtenstein, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Malaysia, Malta, Mexico, Montenegro, Morocco, Netherlands, New Zealand, Norway, Northern Ireland, Oman, Poland,Portugal, Qatar, Romania, Saudi Arabia, Serbia, Slovakia, Slovenia, Singapore, Spain, South Korea, Sweden, Seychelles, Switzerland, Tunisia, Turkey, United Kingdom, Vietnam).

Also Diplomatic (not Official) Passport holders from Armenia, Belarus, China, Jordan, Kazakhstan and Russia no longer need a visa prior to arrival in the UAE.

If your country is not listed above, then you will need to apply for a visa before your departure by providing the following to the UAE Consulate:


Two (2) completed application forms.  All application forms must be typed.

For Particulars of Sponsor / Host, please provide the following:

  • The Particulars of Sponsor / Host in the UAE (e.g., your Embassy in Abu Dhabi, your Consulate in Dubai, etc.)
  • Residence Address in UAE (e.g., hotel in UAE, family or friend’s house, etc.)
2 An Original passport signed by the bearer, should not expire within six (6) months from the expected time of arrival in the UAE.
3 A copy of your passport and a copy of the application. (Please print in color.)
4 Two (2) original passport-sized photos.

An original letter written in English and Arabic from your concerned embassy in the U.S.A. and the letter must include:

  • Your position (e.g., colonel, engineer, etc.) and the purpose of your visit.
  • Name and phone number of your point of contact in the UAE and confirmation of your sponsor during your stay in the UAE (e.g., your embassy, your consulate in the UAE, etc.).
6 An invitation letter typed in English and Arabic from your sponsor in the UAE (e.g., your embassy in Abu Dhabi, your consulate in Dubai, etc.)
7 If you are sending the visa application through the mail please include a prepaid, self-addressed envelope with a tracking number (e.g., US Express mail, UPS, FedEx, etc.).


  • This application will result in a single-entry visa valid for two months, with a maximum of stay one month.
  • Visas require prior approval from the UAE authorities and the Consulate requires a minimum of two (2) business days to issue the visas.
